Trains are vehicles in the Mafia Series.
Mafia[]
In Mafia, the player can use both the elevated railway and streetcars operated by the Lost Heaven Railroad as a means of transportation. The elevated railway runs throughout the city on blue and white cars, while the streetcars are white with a red stripe. They have three lines in the city: one on the West Side, one on Central Island, and one on the East Side.

- In You Lucky Bastard!, some Salieri soldatos try to kill Sergio by having him run over by a train.

Mafia II[]
Base Game[]

Freight train at Westbank Steel
Trains are featured often throughout Mafia II and its DLCs. One is first seen in the opening Prologue as the Scaletta Family are arriving in Empire Bay. Both elevated and ground level train tracks can be seen around the city, and an engine with several cars attached can be found in Dipton.
Union Station serves as the main passenger depot for people leaving or arriving in Empire Bay. It is seen when Vito Scaletta arrives home from the war, and again when Vito drops off Leo Galante after saving him from a hit put out by Carlo Falcone.
A train can also be seen passing by in North Millville, as the player approaches the overhead tracks just north of the abandoned The Crazy Horse diner. Further down the road is the Empire Bay Forge, where several derelict train cars lie rusting away.

There is also an elevated and underground subway system that goes through the city, though no trains are present.
Joe's Adventures[]
When Vito is arrested for stealing gas ration stamps, Joe Barbaro tracks the witness down to Union Station as he's about to leave, and intimidates him into not testifying at Vito's trial. After Joe flees town to avoid a hit put out by Luca Gurino, he returns to Empire Bay by train, arriving at Union Station where he's met by Antonio Balsamo. Joe later saves Marty Santorelli from a group of Bombers at the Kingston Subway Station. He also teams up with Tony Balls to steal a train filled with high grade weapons from a train yard down at the docks.
Trivia[]
- Empire Bay railroad company used to utilize the green steam engine based on the Class A "Hiawatha", and the blue-silver diesel engine based on the EMD F7 for passenger transportation.
- The other steam locomotive in the game is a 4-8-2 Mountain type steam locomotive that strongly resembles St. Louis–San Francisco 1522.
- The subway train is based on NYCTA Q-type Queens car.
Mafia III[]

Concept art of streetcar
While still not usable, trains play a role in Mafia III as well. Train and streetcar tracks run throughout New Bordeaux and rail yards and Switching Stations can be seen in districts like Barclay Mills, River Row, Tickfaw Harbor, Southdowns and Bayou Fantom. Trolley tracks can be seen in Downtown and the French Ward, though no streetcars are present.

- In The Dead Stay Gone, one of the Barclay Mills rackets involves taking over the Barclay Railways train yard. Other train related locations like the Gun Smuggling Depot are involved as well.
Faster, Baby![]
Moving trains are added as scripted events in Sinclair Parish, and can be seen as well as jumped over in the course of the main story missions. The downtown area of Sinclair has a passenger train depot along its southern boundary.
Trivia[]
- Barclay Railways company used to utilize the green diesel engine, based on the ALCO RS-3.
