The Shotgun is a weapon in Mafia II.
Description[]
The shotgun is a pump-action 12-gauge weapon which is slow to fire and reload, yet has extremely high stopping power at close range.
Specifications[]
The weapon can hold 8 shells plus an additional 48 can be carried, for a total of 56 rounds. It occupies a slot in the bottom of the weapons HUD along with other non-automatic two handed weapons.
Availability[]
Mafia II[]
- It can be purchased from Harry's Gun Shop beginning in The Buzzsaw.
- It can be purchased from McClusky & Son beginning in In Loving Memory of Francesco Potenza.
- One can be obtained by killing the bartender at The Lone Star.
- One may be obtained from the back room of The Lone Star bar in Home Sweet Home, enterable by a back door outside.
- Carried by Joe McClusky and can be taken if he is killed from Home Sweet Home onward. This can be done to restock ammo before shotgun ammunition is sold later on.
- May be carried by police officers when wanted level reaches 3 stars.
DLCs[]
- In both The Betrayal of Jimmy and Jimmy's Vendetta, you start off with one in your inventory.
- In Joe's Adventures they're available for purchase at Harry's Gun Shop and McClusky & Son throughout the entire DLC.
Real World[]
The Shotgun is based on the Remington 870, which makes it anachronistic to the 1940s segment of Mafia II: the Remington 870 wasn't produced until 1950.

Trivia[]
- While the weapon may be obtained as early as Home Sweet Home, ammunition will not be for sale or dropped by enemies until The Buzzsaw. However, the police will use them against the player before this if they achieve a three or four star wanted level.
- Joe Barbaro uses this shotgun to shoot and kill Tommy Angelo in Stairway to Heaven. However, in Mafia: Definitive Edition, Joe was retconned to have used a sawed-off double-barrel Lupara shotgun to kill Tommy instead, a weapon that is not usable in Mafia II, but only in the original Mafia, Definitive Edition, and Mafia III. This is also how Tommy's death was depicted in the original Mafia game released in 2002.
