The Shotgun is a weapon in Mafia: Definitive Edition.
Specifications[]
The weapon holds 6 rounds, and the player can carry an additional 12, for a total of 18 rounds. It occupies the two-handed weapons slot in the weapons wheel. Some Shotguns can be found fitted with pistol grips, likely for easier handling (this does not affect usage, however).
Availability[]
The weapon becomes available in Vincenzo's Armory from the beginning of "The Saint and the Sinner" onward. In Free Ride, it becomes available after completing "Better Get Used to It".
Appearance[]
- Punks, gangsters, Police Officers, police detectives, FBI agents, and bodyguards often carry the Shotgun if they use a two-handed weapon.
- A Shotgun can be found next to a sleeping Morello family soldier in a room at Clark's Motel during Ordinary Routine.
- A Punk wearing a wifebeater who first appears in Sarah later shows up in Better Get Used to It armed with a Shotgun.
- Tommy receives a Shotgun from Vincenzo before visiting the Hotel Corleone during The Saint and the Sinner.
- Paulie carries one while driving to Copse Farm at the start of A Trip to the Country.
- One of the bootleggers accompanying William Gates in Great Deal has a Shotgun.
- Howard Davis keeps a Shotgun concealed behind a fake wall panel in the Hotel Corleone manager's office. If the player chooses to find Michelle before killing Davis, he will be in his office instead of the billiard parlor and can use it to defend himself.
- When Vincenzo is introduced at the start of Molotov Party, he is cleaning a Shotgun and proclaiming how its "gonna sing" when used.
- Luigi keeps a Shotgun within easy reach under his bar, which Paulie uses in Running Man to get rid of Dino and Lou.
Real World[]
The Shotgun is based on the Remington 870, which makes it anachronistic to the game: the Remington 870 did not exist in the 1930s. The original Mafia used the Winchester Model 1897 as the basis for its' shotgun, which was a period-appropriate choice.
