The Service Revolver is a weapon in Mafia: Definitive Edition.
Specifications[]
The weapon holds 6 rounds, and the player can carry an additional 18, for a total of 24 rounds. It occupies the one-handed weapons slot in the weapons wheel.
Availability[]
The weapon becomes available in Vincenzo's Armory from the beginning of "Better Get Used to It" onward. In Free Ride, it becomes available after completing "Ordinary Routine".
Appearances[]
- As its name suggests, the Service Revolver is mainly carried by Police Officers, Sheriff's Deputies, and security personnel. However, some hoodlums and gangsters also carry it, and drivers may use it to fend off attempted carjackings. Bodyguards often use either the Service Revolver or Semi-Auto Pistol as their primary weapon.
- U.S. Federal Customs Officers can be seen with the Service Revolver in their holsters during Just for Relaxation.
- Both Don Salieri and Sam use Service Revolvers to defend themselves if attacked, and both men eventually trade their weapons in for the Magnum Pistol. Luigi will defend himself with either a nickel-plated Service Revolver (likely a keepsake from his days as a mob enforcer) or his Shotgun if the player attacks him. [Verification needed]
- Lucas will defend himself with a Service Revolver if he gets attacked. [Verification needed]
Real World[]
The Service Revolver is based on the Colt Python, which makes it anachronistic to the game: the Python did not exist in the 1930s. A more historically accurate choice would have been the S&W Model 10 M&P used in the original Mafia. Another ideal choice would be the Colt New Service, which was among the most prized police weapons of the 1930s due to its heavier caliber being able to penetrate bulletproof vests.
