The Page Creation Criteria covers the minimum standards needed for pages to be created on the Mafia Wiki.

General Requirements[]

Before creating a new page, insure there is enough information available on its subject to make it informative to the reader. Do not create a page if all you have is a name, add it as a red link on the appropriate page and leave it until more is known.

All pages should be created by using either our Preloaded Templates or Page Creation Tool. If you choose to create a page through other methods it must be properly formatted and include all of the same elements provided with these tools. It is highly recommended you use the source editor when creating pages, as the visual editor will not format a new page properly when the Preloaded Templates or Page Creation Tool aren't used. Improperly formatted pages will likely be deleted and recreated, as it's often easier than fixing one that was made incorrectly.

Character Pages[]

Character pages will be named as they are most often referred to in-game. For example, while Tommy Angelo's full name may be Thomas, he's referred to most often as Tommy in-game, so Tommy Angelo should be his page name. This name will also be used in the opening and history sections of the article, full names and aliases should be listed in the appropriate section of the infobox.

Named Characters[]

They need to appear or be mentioned in the game and have a noteworthy history that can be gleaned from either the game itself or official information put out by Mafia Game. For characters appearing in the game, names don't have to be traditional first and last names, whatever they're listed as in the credits is fine so long as it's not generic like Gangster, Pedestrian, Guard, etc. However, mentioned characters not appearing in the game must have a given first and/or last name. In addition to the official game credits, the Internet Movie Database may also be used as a source at the discretion of site admins.

Unnamed Characters[]

For unnamed characters, they must appearing in the game and having a noteworthy history. As for choosing a name, a consensus may be taken or one may be selected by site admins.

Location pages[]

When creating a location page it must include the district it's in, type of location, and its function in the game. Locations must meet at least one of the following criteria before their own page is warranted.

  • It has a scripted role in at least one mission in the game. Simply traveling through or past a location does not constitute a role in any given mission.
  • It offers a needed service to the player.
  • It is a notable and named landmark, such as a park, building, or bridge.
  • It has a noteworthy history derived from the game.
  • It has at least one notable item such as collectibles, cash, weapons, etc. at the location and there is an identifiable landmark such as a building, park, or other feature that a name can be derived from if one isn't given by the game.

Location Names[]

Location names will be derived from one or more of the following criteria.

  • In-game name or map icon.
  • Building signage.
  • Mission description.
  • On screen prompts or messages when entering the area.

In the event that these names conflict, a decision should be made based on consideration of all available information.

Vehicle Pages[]

Vehicle page names should correspond with what's listed in-game or shown in the Carcyclopedia. In the event these conflict or there is a difference that is not the result of a typo or bug, in-game listing should be used. Only vehicles usable by the player or driven in cutscenes should have their own page. Those used as set pieces should only be added to one of the general vehicle pages such as Aircraft, Trains, or Watercraft if applicable.

Weapon Pages[]

Weapon page names will correspond to the name listed in-game when they're equipped by the player. No assumptions will be made as to make, model, caliber, etc. that's not supported by the game. Names used in NPC dialogue that conflict with the in-game nomenclature will not be used in page names or descriptions, but may be added as a trivia entry only. Only weapons usable by the player will have pages created.

Item Pages[]

Item pages are for miscellaneous items in the game that are of use to the player. They can be items such as collectibles, clothing, food, or health items, but it must serve some purpose and be usable to the player before a page should be created.

Mission Pages[]

Mission pages should use the primary mission or chapter name, and not be broken down into sub-missions or individual objectives pages. They should contain an overview along with separate narrative and walkthrough sections. The walkthrough should serve as an abbreviated guide rather than a step-by-step tutorial.

Definitions[]

Noteworthy[]

For the purpose of this page, noteworthy is defined as at least one paragraph consisting of a minimum of 4-5 lines of text when viewed on a reasonably sized PC monitor or laptop. This paragraph must contain relevant and useful information taken from the game itself and not be speculative or use excessive fillers or padding.

Official Sources[]

All information added to pages must come from either the game itself, official publications and videos, developer interviews, or the official Mafia Game website. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social media posts are not considered official by the Mafia Wiki. This includes Mafia Game's official social media accounts, as these are often accessed by interns or publicists who may not necessarily have complete or accurate information.
