Lincoln Clay: “I'm running low. Can you send supplies to Delray Hollow?”
Jackie DuVernay: “I'll head your way now.”
Lincoln calls Jackie.

Jacques "Jackie" DuVernay is a supporting character in Mafia III.

History[]

Background[]

Jacques "Jackie" DuVernay is a former associate of the Black Mob and a friend to both Sammy Robinson and his adopted son, Lincoln Clay. An avid survivalist and former soldier, Jackie's dream of owning the best gun store in Delray Hollow was ruined when the New Bordeaux Police Department shut down his business because black people weren't supposed to have easy access to firearms and ammunition. Sammy did what he could to help out, but Jackie decided he wasn't going to let corrupt white people ruin the Hollow any longer and started running guns and other military-grade contraband for the Haitian Mob, using his van to discreetly transport supplies to Haitian soldiers. Though he still considers Lincoln a close friend, that doesn't mean he won't charge him a hefty sum for providing the gear necessary to wipe out the Marcano family.

Current Operations[]

Jackie will provide Lincoln with the Arms Dealer perk after he starts working with Cassandra, selling him weapons, ammunition, vehicle modifications, supplies, and other various odds and ends through his mobile gun shop. When the perk is activated, Jackie will appear wherever the player currently is to offer his services. With upgrades, Jackie will offer his custom "Screaming Zemi" distraction device for sale and can also enhance the device with a smoke grenade to disorient enemies and a miniature explosive to kill anyone who tries to pick it up.

Upgrades[]

  • Add the Screaming Zemi to his inventory.
  • Add a smoke element to the Screaming Zemi.
  • Add an explosive component to the Screaming Zemi.

Appearances[]

Jackie first appears in "The Way of Flesh", parked in front of the Pierced Hearts Voodoo Shop when Lincoln decides to arm up for his war against the Dixie Mafia. Presumably Lincoln did business with the gun seller when he was in the Black Mob, as he recognizes Jackie and has a brief conversation asking why he works out of a van. Jackie says that his gun shop was closed down by the government and he now work on the black market. He is later seen parked outside of Doucet's brothel, offering to help Lincoln in his attempt to free Merle Jackson's top three prostitutes. He remains available throughout the rest of the game, even if Cassandra is killed by Lincoln. When Lincoln first contacts Jackie for help after John Donovan has provided him with a mobile phone, Jackie will say he is happy to help, "but I ain't running a charity, either".

Notes[]

  • He will often stop a considerable distance from the player's location.
  • He often drives erratically and may be involved in accidents on his way to the player, possibly getting killed in the process. When this happens, you may still be able to conduct business with him.
  • Jackie's response will vary slightly dependent on which neighborhood Lincoln requests he appear in. Jackie will not make any remark should Lincoln wish to meet him in Sinclair Parish.
