- "You know something, Lincoln, you're possibly the baddest mother fucker I ever laid my eyes on. But you shouldn't have said no."
- — Giorgi Marcano
Giorgi Marcano is a main character and the secondary antagonist of Mafia III.
History
Background
Giorgi Marcano is Sal Marcano's son and the Underboss of the Marcano Crime Family. Since his mother Virginia died in 1957, Giorgi and his father have been inseparable, with Sal doing everything he can to prepare him for "the life." Growing up in the lap of luxury has given Giorgi a sense of superiority, which annoys the hell out of the ranks of men who work beneath him.
For the most part his position as underboss is in title only, and while he will one day take over for his father, he holds very little control over the other family members. He is responsible for placing the Dixie Mafia in charge of Delray Hollow, but Giorgi wants to usher in a new era for the Marcano crime family, and he's opposed to his father's decision to go legitimate by opening the Paradiso Hotel & Casino, maintaining that they would make more money selling heroin than running a casino.
Growing up in a life of crime, Giorgi became close friends with fellow criminals Lincoln Clay, Ellis Robinson and Danny Burke. The four were inseparable, spending their time together both socially and in the pursuit of criminal activity. While Lincoln was away in Vietnam, Giorgi and Ellis made plans to sell heroin in the French Ward behind his father's back, thinking his Uncle Lou will let him as long as he gets a cut. Like his father though, Giorgi ultimately believes business is more important than friendship, and has no misgivings over betraying his friendships when the time comes.
Federal Reserve Heist
Impressed by Lincoln's ability to deal with Baka and the Haitian Mob, Sal and Giorgi call a meeting at the Retroussé Yacht Club to discuss him coming in on the Federal Reserve heist they have planned. Sal suggests to Lincoln that he take over running Delray Hollow as the leader of the Black Mob, allowing his adoptive father Sammy Robinson to retire. To the disappointment of Sal and Giorgi, Lincoln turns down their offer, but agrees to help in the heist.
Giorgi and Lincoln take point on the heist, dressing in guard uniforms and stealing an armored truck to infiltrate the Federal Reserve building. Once inside, Giorgi tells Lincoln to start loading up the cash while he enters a separate area of the vault, unintentionally setting off the alarm. Unknown to the rest of the crew, Giorgi's real reason for being there is to steal a set of money plates, enabling his father to set up a counterfeiting operation.
After they escape, Giorgi parts ways with his friends to meet up with his father and hand over the money plates. A while later the two go to Sammy's Bar along with Dixie Mafia associate Ritchie Doucet to collect their cut from the robbery. After a brief moment of celebration Giorgi approaches Lincoln, telling him he's probably the "baddest motherfucker" he's ever known. Then referring to Lincoln's refusal to take over Delray Hollow, he declares "You shouldn't have said no", shooting Lincoln in the head while Sal and Ritchie kill the others.
Mob War
After Sal receives a call from his brother Lou, Giorgi is informed that Lincoln Clay is alive. He survived both the gunshot and the fire they set at Sammy's, and was the one causing all the recent problems with their operations. As things escalate, Sal blames Giorgi for all the recent problems caused by Lincoln, stating that if he had actually killed Lincoln that night, none of this would be happening.
Girogi does his best to assist his father, suggesting that he call Leo Galante for help, but that suggestion is rebuked by Sal, saying that if he involves The Commission, they're going to want a cut of everything, which is exactly why he's trying to get out from under them. Reluctantly realizing it's his only option, he asks Giorgi to leave. Picking up the phone, Sal calls Leo, telling him he has something he needs to discuss.
Giorgi also takes care of his aunt Olivia when Lincoln leaves her hospitalized, slitting her throat ear to ear, but even that does little to help with the ongoing issues caused by Lincoln. Out of desperation, Giorgi puts his father in touch with Nino Santangelo, the dealer who was supplying him with the heroin he'd been selling. Despite his confidence, Santangelo turns out to be no match for Clay, and is quickly killed by him.
Death
With his father's criminal empire in ruins, Giorgi and Sal call up whatever men they have left and gather at their half finished casino to make a final stand against Clay. None of it makes any difference, as Lincoln quickly cuts through their men, reaching Giorgi in the casino's upper office. As he lay dying, Giorgi tells Lincoln that it was never about their friendship, everything he did was for his father, that he would do anything for him just as Lincoln would do for Sammy. Lincoln then stabs Giorgi deep in the abdomen with his combat knife, killing him. Lincoln takes the key card for the elevator from Giorgi's corpse, and then heads up to the penthouse in the casino to confront and kill Sal Marcano.
