History[]
Mafia[]
Food and beverages play an insignificant role in Mafia. Tommy is seen drinking coffee with Detective Norman in the opening Prologue, where customers can also be seen eating. In Bon Appétit!, Tommy is seen eating with Don Salieri, where the other two customers can also be seen eating. While bars and restaurants exist in the game, they offer no services to the player, and outside of cutscenes, most can't be entered.
Mafia II[]
Food and beverages take on a much larger role in Mafia II, as Vito uses them to regenerate lost health during and after battles. They can be found in the refrigerators at safehouses, purchased in several bars and restaurants, and even found lying around at mission locations. Characters eat food in cutscenes, and some missions involve them drinking alcohol, often to excess.
Mafia III[]
With the release of Mafia III food and beverages are no longer consumable by the player, but they are seen and mentioned quite often in the game. As the game takes place in Louisiana, many regional dishes like gumbo, mudbugs, boudin, and po' boys are mentioned by NPCs as well as Lincoln. Restaurants advertise their cuisine on the radio and on billboards, and Vito Scaletta owns a restaurant in River Row. NPCs can be seen cooking and even carrying food items, and one of the game's early missions involves Lincoln serving gumbo at a local food kitchen.
Alcoholic beverages are consumed in many of the game's cutscenes, and one mission involves Lincoln serving wine that's been dosed with LSD to the guests of a wake. After Sammy's Renovation has been completed, the player is able to have Lincoln drink beer at the bar and whiskey in his upstairs office.
Mafia: DE[]
Food and beverages are still not consumable by the player in Mafia: Definitive Edition, but they are seen and mentioned in the game. Tommy is seen drinking coffee with Detective Norman in Prologue. In Bon Appétit, Tommy is seen eating with Don Salieri in Pepe's Restaurant, where customers can also be seen eating. NPCs can be seen cooking in Salieri's Bar.
