The Epilogue is the ending cutscene in Mafia: Definitive Edition.

Overview

After Tommy Angelo's confession to Detective Norman, the narrative skips to 1951, where Tommy narrates his life and trials to his family and in-laws during the wedding of his daughter. The cutscene shows vignettes of Tommy's life in prison, and the fates of the surviving Salieri Crime Family members: Salieri is imprisoned for life, and Vincenzo and Ralph were arrested for their illegal activities.

Narrative

The scene begins during the wedding of Tommy's daughter and subsequent reception, where an elderly Tommy Angelo recalled his days as a soldier in Salieri's family where someone told him that family is a man's biggest weakness, his Achilles' heel so to speak.

He narrated that everything he has done, both good and bad, were done for his family. He turned his back on the crime family he used to view as his friends, and kept on his promises, spending eight years in solitary confinement for the crimes he committed, for him to come home as a better husband, a better father and a better man, having matured and moved on from his previous life of crime. Despite seeing family as a weakness, he also viewed it as a strength and an inspiration for them to pursue their dreams "even when they're moving too fast to catch."

The scene cuts to where he is watering his lawn, when two gangsters in a Smith Moray pull over. One of them, a man named Vito, asks for a certain "Mr. Angelo", which Tommy confirms as being himself. Vito sends his regards on behalf of Don Salieri, and Tommy, now resigned to his fate, faces a shotgun blast to the chest from the man's partner. As Tommy laid on the grass, a grieving Sarah, their daughter, and two young men come to his aid. Tommy, in his dying words, assures them that everything will be fine, and they are now all safe from the mob's influence. Finally, in the end of his speech at the wedding,Tommy lectures his family that material possessions and friends will come and go, but family is forever.
