Carl Bevers is a minor character in Mafia III.
History[]
Background[]
"Brooklyn" Carl Bevers is the Racket Boss who runs the moonshine racket in Pointe Verdun for Roman Barbieri. Descended from swamp people, Carl's family has a long history of producing moonshine that'll kick your ass from one side of the county to the other.
In his younger years, he was a boxer who was reputed for such powerful blows that he earned the nickname "Brooklyn", for when he hit you "they felt it in Brooklyn".[1] Bevers doesn't trust Barbieri, but he has no choice in working for him.[2]
Current Operations[]
Bevers uses his family's moonshine experience to run the hooch through the distillery. He has two stills well hidden deep in the bayou and only allows his trusted drivers access to the locations. He's strong-armed local liquor stores and bars into selling his moonshine and even ships it out to nearby towns by rail car.
Fate[]
In 1968, Bevers' racket was taken over by Lincoln Clay, who was working with inside information he received from Nicki Burke. Lincoln damaged Carl's moonshine operation by killing his enforcers, personnel, and damaging the racket's stills and other assets. Once everything fell apart, Bevers resurfaced, giving Lincoln the opportunity to confront him. After successfully infiltrating the Sweetwater Distillery, Lincoln either killed Bevers by stabbing him with his knife or assured Bevers that the Butcher's reign of terror was coming to an end and that he could keep his family safe and regain control of the distillery by working for Thomas Burke. If Carl survives, he is later seen overseeing pressure vats in the distillery, serving as Nicole Burke's assistant.

Trivia[]
- If Lincoln can get close to Bevers without alerting him, he will be overheard saying he has a wife named Penny and two children, and expresses fear Barbieri will hurt them.
